What exactly is rhodium-plated silver? With rhodium plating, a layer of rhodium is applied to the precious metal. Because Rhodium is very hard (almost as hard as Chromium), rhodium-plated jewelry is not or hardly damaged. This extends the lifespan considerably. Rhodium-plated silver is stronger, does not oxidize and is not sensitive to atmospheric influences. As a result, the jewelry becomes dull less quickly and retains its shine and elegance.
